At Akumin, the health and well-being of our employees, patients, partners, and communities remain our top priority. As of 2024, we are continuing to follow the latest data and guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control (“CDC”), Department of Health (“DOH”), Department of Labor (“DOL”), and other overseeing regulatory bodies that impact our business, to ensure the highest standards of infection prevention and control.
ENHANCED SAFETY MEASURES
Akumin continues to follow CDC and state and local health department guidelines relating to infectious disease protocols. In high transmission areas, we may pre-screen individuals entering our facilities, limit the number of individuals in our clinics and apply other protocols to protect patients, personnel and the broader community.
TRAINED HEALTHCARE STAFF
Our staff has completed additional training based on the latest CDC guidelines to protect our patients, staff, and community. We have also instituted additional infectious disease precautions and protocol requirements that align with CDC guidelines.
COMPREHENSIVE SITE PROTOCOLS AND INFECTION CONTROL
Every individual site of care has a comprehensive infection control program and standard clinical quality and safety processes to mitigate the risk of transmission of infectious diseases, including COVID-19.
PATIENT SCREENING
Patient screening processes have been suspended, but should they be required in the future, we will work in coordination with infection control experts, the CDC, local departments of health, and internal experts, and when necessary re-implement patient screening processes specific to COVID-19.
If a patient meets specific criteria that indicate a potential exposure to or infection with COVID-19, we provide them with clear next steps to protect their safety and health, as well as that of our Team Members and providers.
FLEXIBLE RESCHEDULING
We will respect and accommodate any patient’s request to defer their appointment to a later date, particularly as it relates to any non-urgent service. Please notify us at least 24- hours in advance of your appointment to avoid incurring any late cancelation fees.. If you are sick with COVID-19 and need medically necessary services, please let our schedulers know and advise the clinic staff immediately upon check-in.
