Dr. Rivera’s commitment to cancer treatment is a personal one, shaped by his experiences with loved ones who suffered from the disease. The experience helped motivate him to become a physician and cancer specialist with a goal of helping heal individuals physically and emotionally. Dr. Rivera earned a medical degree from the University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno and completed his residency in radiation oncology at Duke University, where he served as Chief Resident. He completed his internship at Columbia University and research fellowships at Harvard/Massachusetts General Hospital and the Mayo Clinic.

He is a member of the American College of Radiology, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, and the American Brachytherapy Society. He also has published research featured in the journals Surgery and the International Journal of Radiation Oncology, Biology, Physics.

Dr. Rivera has been honored with numerous awards from several prestigious medical associations, including the American Brachytherapy Society, the American Federation for Medical Research, and the American College of Physicians.
