Alden Klarer, M.D. joined the radiation oncology treatment team at our Louisville cancer treatment center in 2021. She received her medical doctorate from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, where she also completed her internship and residency.

Dr. Klarer has had a strong interest in the field of oncology since taking her first job after college in a lab run by a surgical oncologist. While in medical school, she had the opportunity to see oncology through the eyes of a surgeon, a medical oncologist, and a radiation oncologist. After rotating through the amazing department of radiation oncology at UofL, she knew radiation oncology is where she wanted to be.

There are many aspects of her role as a radiation oncologist that Dr. Klarer likes, but what she enjoys most about her job is collaborating with so many great people that are all focused on the same goal of providing the best patient care possible. She also feels fortunate to work closely with both clinical and non-clinical faculty to advance the field of radiation oncology through research and to bring the latest treatment modalities to our center.

She is a member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), the American Medical Association, and the American Physician Scientists Association. While Dr. Klarer sees all types of cancer and non-cancer diagnoses that are treatable with radiation, the majority of her practice is focused on breast cancer.
