Radiating Love During Rad Tech Week
Nov 8, 2026
This year’s Radiologic Technologist Week theme, Radiating Love, celebrates the compassion, dedication and commitment that medical imaging professionals bring to patient care every day. Behind every image is a skilled technologist whose role extends far beyond operating equipment. Across Akumin, our technologists combine technical expertise with a commitment to patient safety, providing reassurance during uncertain moments and helping patients feel comfortable and cared for. This week, we celebrate the people behind the images and the important role they play in every patient’s healthcare journey.
The People Behind the Images
Every scan tells a story. A CT exam may help identify the cause of a patient’s symptoms. An MRI may provide answers after weeks of uncertainty. A mammogram may detect cancer at its earliest and most treatable stage. While physicians interpret those images, the quality of every study begins with the expertise of a radiologic technologist.
More Than Operating Equipment
From the outside, imaging can appear highly technical, and it is. Today’s technology is remarkable, and advances in imaging continue to improve our ability to diagnose disease, guide treatment decisions and improve outcomes.
But great imaging is never just about the equipment.
It requires skill, judgment and attention to detail. Technologists make hundreds of decisions throughout the day that influence image quality, patient safety and the overall experience of care. They understand the science behind the exam, adapt to each patient’s needs and help ensure clinicians have the information necessary to make confident decisions.
The Human Side of Healthcare
What often stands out to me most, however, is the way technologists connect with patients.
Many people arrive for an imaging exam feeling anxious. Some are worried about a diagnosis. Others are navigating pain, uncertainty or a significant life event. In those moments, technologists provide something that no machine ever can: reassurance, compassion and human connection.
A few extra minutes spent answering a question, adjusting for a patient’s comfort or simply offering encouragement can have a lasting impact. These interactions may seem small, but they matter deeply to the people we serve.
Advancing Care Together
As imaging and oncology continue to evolve, the role of the radiologic technologist becomes even more important. New technologies and clinical advances create exciting opportunities to improve care, but their impact depends on knowledgeable professionals who know how to apply them thoughtfully and effectively.
That combination of technical expertise and compassion is what makes our technologists such an essential part of patient care.
Thank You
During Radiologic Technologist Week, I want to thank every technologist across Akumin for the work you do each day.
Thank you for your professionalism. Thank you for your commitment to quality and patient safety. And thank you for the care, empathy and dedication you bring to every encounter.
The images you produce help guide clinical decisions, but the experience you create helps define the patient journey. Both leave a lasting impact.
We are grateful for all that you do and proud to celebrate you this week.
