Akumin Establishes Physician Advisory Board

February 26, 2025 – Plantation, FL – Akumin, a leader in managed radiology and oncology services, is pleased to announce the formation of its new Physician Advisory Board (APAB), composed of esteemed experts in the field. The APAB will advise on innovation, clinical and operational excellence in Radiology, Theranostics and Radiation Oncology, as well as providing expert clinical guidance and recommendations for continuous improvement in healthcare quality, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and treatment. The inaugural members of our Physician Advisory Board are Dr. Vijay Rao and Dr. Aytekin Oto.

Dr. Vijay Rao, MD, FACR

Dr. Vijay Rao is the David C. Levin Professor and Senior Vice President of Enterprise Radiology and Imaging at Jefferson Health in Philadelphia, and formerly chaired the Radiology Department at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University from 2002 to 2022. Dr. Rao is a global leader in radiology and has authored over 230 peer-reviewed articles and a textbook on MRI and CT of the head and neck. Dr. Rao has served as President of RSNA, ASHNR, APDR, AAWR and Chair of the RSNA R&E Foundation Board. She has received numerous honors, including gold medals from RSNA, AUR, ASHNR, and the AAWR Marie Curie Award.

Dr. Aytekin Oto is Professor of Radiology and Surgery, Dean for Clinical Affairs, head of the Faculty Practice Plan and Chief Physician at the University of Chicago. Dr. Oto’s research has resulted in more than 250 publications and over 150 scientific exhibits at national and international meetings. Dr. Oto serves at the Editorial Board of Radiology and has received numerous awards including AIMBE fellowship, Distinguished Investigator Award, RSNA honored educator award and Distinguished Senior Clinician Award.
